This isn't a professional movie review, but moreso a jumbled mess of my own thoughts/opinions. Warning for mention of self-harm/suicide

One of the scariest movies I've ever watched recently, despite me thinking I'd fall asleep halfway through. I don't think any other film can capture the exact style of Obsession. I thought it would be another generic horror movie, with some manic psychopathic girlfriend or stalker that gets sent to jail by the end. But no. It felt a little too real. A little too mixed in with modern society's social issues to ignore.

To brush aside some obvious stuff, I really liked the cinematography. The lighting and colour grading were all really fantastic and kind of had some 2010's vibes to it? Though it might be because I watched it on my laptop with a pretty low resolution (iykyk) so that might've been why. There was a bunch of shorts I saw after about how Sarah always appears on Bear's right side, and Nikki always appears on the left, and that one bar scene when they were playing Truth or Dare or something and Bear had to kiss the person on his left Nikki just pulled Sarah aside which kind of foreshadowed her taking over Sarah's space(???) Not sure if I explained that well but theres a reel somewhere about it

No one in this movie is inherently a good person. Bear for obvious reasons, and all his co-workers for not telling him that Nikki and Ian were getting together behind his back. I guess it's supposed to be a reflection of real-life in some sort of way but I guess that's why no one gets a happy ending. Not saying that Nikki didn't deserve one. I think her dying would have been a better fate than dealing with the trauma that happened afterward and all her friends' deaths. I felt so bad for her at the end.

Isn't the way Bear thinks so scary? Nikki is constantly in battle with the Wish version of herself, fighting back for control of her own body, and he never does anything about it. She begged him to kill her but he only cared about himself. He wanted to pretend that everything was okay and didn't care abotu what happened to the actual Nikki. There's actual people in real life that think like this, that only care about getting what they want not considering how it impacts others. I'm glad that every single discussion I've seen online agree Bear is irredemable and he was 100% in the wrong.

But yeah. This is your PSA to see the movie if you haven't. "wow popular romance movie eww im not some normie" i thought that too but i was so wrong this is a MUST watch alongside popular indie movies Backrooms and The Amazing Digital Circus Iron Lung (though I haven't seen the latter)
